Unicorn Kid has just announced a Belfast show in Auntie Annies. Unicorn Kid (real name Oli Sabin) is only 17 years old, but he's already attracting attention from all directions. Oli originally started producing music as a hobby at the age of 15, by layering different melodies on his Casiotone keyboard. He then began playing about with professional sequencing software on his laptop, integrating various circuit bent instruments and toys into his music. His first gig was in January 2008 in front of a small group of friends in a tiny city centre bar in Edinburgh, but he quickly gained fans all over the world. By the time he was 18, he was making 8-bit dance-music hits. You can't miss him onstage wearing a majestic lion hat that even his fans have started wearing. Recently signed with EMI and Ministry of Sound in the UK, Sabin decided to make his passion for music his career, and has thrown himself into it full-time, currently working on Unicorn Kid's debut album. The decision to defer university and concentrate on his music career has paid off, being asked by Neil Tennant to remix the Pet Shop Boy's new single Did You See Me Coming?

 

As the final nails were hammered to the coffin of Reverend Bizarre (1995-2007, R.I.P.), guitar player Peter Vicar started to follow his vision of a new True Doom Metal band. He felt forced to fulfill his need to compose and play this most arcane form of metal in the way it was meant to be, full of intensity, cruelty, heaviness, and force. Still firmly walking in the footsteps of Saint Vitus, Trouble, Witchfinder General and Pentagram, this new band brings together an international lineup of four devoted metalheads.

Right in the middle of their supporting tour with Band of Horses, Darker My Love will take time out to headline their own show in ‘ Auntie Annie’s Attic. The band based in Los Angeles are described as Indie Psychadelic rock and cofounded by members of The Nerve Agents and The Distillers. Also two members of band joined the prolific punk-rock group The Fall. They released an album under Dangerbird Records, where the track Blue Day featured on Guitar Hero 5. The thrid LP was recorded in January 2010. Support comes from Elspeth citing The Stone Roses, Radiohead, Bob Dylan and The Smiths as some of their influences, which can certainly be heard on their tracks. Darker My Love, Elspeth & Soviet Flares will be performing in Auntie Annie’s Attic on Saturday 5th June 2010. Tickets are on sale now and are priced £5.00 plus booking fee. Belfast-based Before Machines formed in early 2008 and quickly set about earning a reputation for fearsome, energetic live shows around the country. Released in May 2009, the launch of their their eponymous EP saw the band play a blistering set to a packed Auntie Annie’s Attic. Their subsequent live shows have only won them more converts along the way.Before Machines entered Start Together studio in February 2010 after a short period of enforced hibernation to fine-tune their sound. The result is the forthcoming double-A side “Hearts/Runaway”. Before Machines launch their new single in Auntie Annie’s Attic on Thursday 3rd June, admission is £4 and you can pay at the door. Nell Bryden, has announced she will be releasing a new digital download single, Tonight (Ash Howes Radio Mix), on Monday 19th April. Her last single, Not Like Loving You, spent an incredible six weeks on the BBC Radio 2 A List, and was described by the Daily Mirror (****) as “a big bold production – keening pedal steels, bright edgy horns and a massed choir – push the incomparable thrill of the title to the fore. Swell” . The original version of Tonight can be found on Bryden’s recently released album What Does It Take? Bryden is fast becoming one of the most talked about and sought after new artists, building the buzz the old-fashioned way with word-of-mouth endorsements of her live shows. With four international tours (and 500 shows) in the last 18 months under her belt, including tours with KT Tunstall, and The Counting Crows, and a self-released debut single, What Does It Take, spending 7 weeks on the BBC R2 A-list (Second Time Around spent over 2 months on the RTE Radio1 playlist and was Song of the Week on Today FM)- she is definitely one to watch. Bryden also appeared on RTE TV’s the Late Late show on her first single release of Second Time Around. Nell Bryden will be performing a Belfast show in Auntie Annies on Sunday 30th May 2010. Dan Sartain is an American Rock and Roll musician from Birmingham, Alabama. His music encompasses a variety of genres including rockabilly and blues. After releasing two self-produced albums through independent record labels, his first commercially-available studio album Dan Sartain vs. the Serpientes was released in 2005 through San Diego, California-based Swami Records. This was followed by Join Dan Sartain in 2006, also on the Swami label. In 2007 Sartain toured as an opening act for The White Stripes and in 2009 released a single on Jack White's Third Man Records (also produced by White) entitled, "Bohemian Grove".
